2007 Season
I have good news and bad news. The bad news for us is there will be no Appalachian Christmas Quartet performances this season. The good news for ACQ is they get the Christmas season off for the first time in 10 years. Michael made this decision with mixed emotions. While the trip home to Wichita and getting to see all of you will be missed, they will certainly enjoy a more relaxed Christmas season (although I'm going to make the safe assumption that they'll still be plenty busy). Michael did say they still plan on coming back next year, and wishes you all a Blessed Holiday season!

Here's the latest news from Michael...
"I just wanted to take a minute to let you all know that I recently received an award and acknowledgement from ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) for the recent compositions that have been published. Last year (2004) I was fortunate enough to have 17 original compositions released by various publishers. My assumption is that must have generated enough hype to merit this ASCAP award for composition in 2005.
I am also happy to let you know that this year I have already had a publisher commit to 8 more of my compositions! Who knows, maybe I have a shot to win this award next year too? Jeanne Anne and I have our fingers crossed."

2003 Season is coming together
The seventh season of the Appalachian Christmas Quartet is now being booked. In response to those who had difficulties printing the dates, we have moved the Dates Page to it's own page (instead of being at the bottom of this News Page). Click Here for the Dates Page. One of the more notable details to report is the band has begun raising money for a 3rd ACQ studio recording! Somehow, they have found the time to arrange and compose an entire album's worth of new material and are excited to get it recorded. Additionally, this year there will be a couple of "BIG" shows with a children's choir, a drum ensemble, and a string quartet. We will be introducing the dobro, fiddle, viola, 2nd hammered dulcimer (Jeanne Anne), and a couple more original instruments that are in the final stages of construction.
New ACQ lineup
Keeping things interesting again this year, the ACQ has chosen Rob Loren to fill the "rotation member" position. You might remember that Eric Hauck from Cincinnati, OH filled this spot last season with his cello, mandolin, etc. and this year the ACQ is going to have Rob fill it with his violin, viola, mandolin, guitar, and percussion skills. You can see Rob L's bio here. We have also included a bio for Rob Farmer, who has been an ex-officio member for a few years. You can see Rob F's bio here.
